Dos and Don’ts for Booking Hotels Online

Gone are the days of going to the travel agents or the tourism office to book your accommodation in an unknown region. Everything is only one step away with the advent of the internet. You can now easily book hotels in Kolkata online with a few mouse clicks.

But this doesn’t mean you can blindly book a hotel from any random site. You need to do your research well before picking a hotel. Otherwise, you may drain resources for a room in a dingy hotel at a narrow alley.

Check out these dos and don’ts for booking luxury hotels in Kolkata online and enjoy your stay.

Dos:

  • Do check the dates of your arrival and departure very minutely. This is more important if you are travelling overseas.
  • Bear in mind the international time zones and date lines so that you don’t end up paying more than required. Going through all the details before hitting the confirmation button is the safest option.
  • Before booking a hotel, read the reviews by the previous customers. How was their experience? Did they like the place? Do they recommend the hotel? Learn all about it.
  • Before booking a room, it’s better to learn more about the entire hotel. What facilities does the hotel provide? Does it have 24/7 room service? Does it have any in-house catering service?

Also, if you require any specific facility like Wi-Fi connection or an iron board in the room, check out if the hotel offers that. You may also call the hotel reception to learn about it.

Don’ts:

⨯  Don’t book a hotel from any random third party site. Sometimes fraud sites may allure you with  “85% off on hotel booking deals”, but don’t fall in such traps. Rather it’s better to book your staydirectly from the official site of the hotel.

⨯ Don’t merely look for cheap hotels since you cannot complain anything about these even if their  service is not up to the mark. Indeed budget is a crucial concern but your comfort matters even more. So look for the top hotels in Kolkata, if you don’t want to compromise with your comfort and security.

⨯ Location is a major concern when you are booking a hotel online. If you are travelling via flight or railway, you sure don’t want to travel another two hours on road just to get to the hotel, right?

To avoid such exhaustion, better pick a hotel close to the airport or railway station. However, “close to” does not mean that you need to pick a place amidst all the chaos and crowd. A hotel at half an hour distance from these places via car is fine.

Conclusion

After reading such an extensive guideline, if you are looking to book 3 star hotel in Kolkata online, Barsana Boutique Hotel is the perfect destination.

Located at Topsia Road, the hotel is 30 mins drive from the airport and 10 mins drive from Sealdah railway station.

The rooms are equipped with luxurious facilities to enhance your comfort. And in-house Bahula restaurant will satiate your appetite with lip-smacking vegetarian delicacies.

The Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Kolkata! A Review

“So, where will we eat today?” This question has a distinct fan base (I mean, foodie base), right? Every time I visit Kolkata, this question chases me like anything! More so because I am a vegetarian. Kolkata is indeed a heaven for foodies but vegetarians still feel a bit left out. Though you can easily find vegetarian dishes in any general restaurant, pure veg people like us feel a bit uncomfortable to hit those places.

This time, I decided to find out a pure vegetarian restaurant so that I can get rid of the hassles of going through the entire trial and error process every time am here.

And guess what! I have found the best vegetarian restaurant in Kolkata! Bahula Restaurant! My entire family got so excited and relieved at the same time since we don’t have to spend bucks on random restaurants anymore!

So, today I am going to tell you what I loved the most about Bahula Restaurant. Check it out.

The Food, Of course!

Starting from the starters, to the main course, and the desserts - the restaurant has a variety of dishes to offer. My kid particularly loved the Fruit Blast Papdi Chhat. Honestly, I didn’t find this item in Kolkata ever before. Barsana Special Sizzler was my husband’s pick and I cannot say that we didn’t enjoy it. This preparation is basically made with vegetable steak and tossed pasta with a filling of tomato flavoured cheese sauce.

For the main course, we tried Kashmiri Chilman Biriyani (which I found to be okayish), Raita, and Paneer Laziz (which is, hands down, yummy!). I also wanted to taste Khoya Kaju Curry - a special delicacy in Bahula. But by that time, it was all finished! Am surely going to try it the next time.

If you are there, don’t forget to try their special halwa and classic walnut brownie with ice cream.

Are you licking your lips already? Am sure you are!

Ambience

The restaurant is quite different from the random restaurants we have visited earlier in Kolkata. It has a very elegant and cosy outlook. I found the interior decoration and the lighting extremely classy. Trust me, such a royal ambience automatically enhances appetite.

Customer Service

Here, I want to take a pause and convey my appreciation for the top-notch customer service of the restaurant. Actually, good food can lure customers to a certain restaurant, but good service will keep them returning. The rapid service and friendly attitude of the waiters left us with nothing to complain! By the end of the meal, we were already planning the next visit.

Conclusion

Before visiting the place, my cousin told me it is one of the best veg restaurants in Kolkata and I can affirm you that it surely is!

Here’s a quick tip. If you are planning to visit Bahula restaurant anytime now, make sure to give them a call and reserve a table. This will really save you from standing in the queue!
